Back in October 2009 I announced the Social Pulpit which was going to be a blog and training site for churches, ministries and individuals that are in ministry related positions. At the time, I was going to be blogging on a variety of technologies and three different cms platforms which were Wordpress, Drupal and Joomla.

Now with all of the new extensions that have been released for Joomla (two of which I absolutely love, K2 and Flexicontent) I’ve decided to only focus on Joomla, Joomla Extensions and other internet technologies.

The site is now up and I will be continually adding and updating the articles and videos on the website. Please visit and support the site if you are a church, ministry or individual and ministry with the assignment of managing and maintaining our church website or you’de like to start learning web design and development.

I just wanted to give you an update on my latest project. I create a logo in the last post and decided to go ahead and post another update. I’m in the process and of writing content and studying for an exam which of course can be very overwhelming when you’re trying to manage family, client projects, respond to client emails, study and make time for your new projects.

Here are is a screenshot of where it’s heading and things may change but I just wanted to let you know that I’m excited about it and I’m quite sure a lot of pastors, ministries, churches and other designers alike will be as well. There will be screencasts and site demos to view along with just about every posts. Oh and did I mention premium content to download to your computer. Stay tuned…

I’m currently working on a project that I’ve been researching information on for the last 2 months and finally I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m going to use Wordpress for The Social Pulpit. Originally I was going to use “Drupal,” but decided that the site would be high maintenance and too many configurations to manage. I also needed a blogging platform and so Wordpress seemed perfect after I discovered that many of the modules I was going to use in Drupal had a compatible plugin in Wordpress. In fact, the plugins are created by the very same companies that obviously saw the benefit having a plugin/module for two of the most popular content management systems.

Here is the logo I’ve created for the site:

The Social Pulpit coming together very well; I’m very excited about it and I’m sure my clients will be also once I’ve completed it. This site will be a resource for my clients to learn how to manage their sites, including having additional features for video downloads and tutuorial how-to’s and the tools required to keep their websites updated and even do some of the design on their own. Stay tuned for the The Social Pulpit progress.
